My residecy period expanded from December until beginning of February. I worked mainly with my instrument electro acoustic alto hurdy-gurdy. I did some modifications to the instrument which included adding one drone string and miking it with a magnetic sensor. Besides this I made plans to modify the electronics in the instrument for adding 2 outputs to the existing 6 outputs. The whole process with the instument can be considered as a sort of sonic research where there is an idea in the end of a very unique way to create music and sounds that are unheard of before. In the end of the residency some musical themes started to emerge. Later on they will be part of an album Im making and also part of live sets that Im playing with the projects Hur Hur and Hevonen.
In Turku I played one gig in Titanik with Hur Hur and one in the Life on a Leaf (Lehtitalo) with Hevonen. With Hevonen we publised a band camp track ”Maasta kasvoi kylmiä miekkoja” from the recording of the gig in Lehtitalo.
Besides this I made an artist talk about my work as an visual artist/performance artist/sculptor. After the artist talk I also played a short gig with my instrument.
I am over the moon that In Turku I met so many great people and made new friends. It was very social and productive residency.
