Titanik A.i.R Epilogues | Sumugan Sivanesan

director

“I had a productive November, beginning with a breakfast broadcast alongside @mattiaikio at Goethe-Institut in Helsinki, who funded my travel. I planned to spend my time at Titanik working with some experimental audio/music technologies and remixing some music in dialogue with Dreamscape Records, who I will visit in Batticaloa next year.

I also began researching and writing a text on DJing and what comes up in the mix, in discussion with Matti and also via a guest spot on Myös-klubi with @juusonkutale , streaming on IDA Radio. I reconnected with long-time collaborator Open Radio and met with Out Of Office (OOO) Radio at Forum Box, a bicycle-mounted mobile radio art infrastructure founded by Samantha Lippett and James Prevett.

Fugitive Radio produced a short broadcast on OOO, live from Titanik during ”one century abc” organised by Äänipäivät. Indeed, I was very fortunate to meet @anttitolvi and @rasmusostling who uncovered the sub-bass speaker and via whom I encountered the local sound art/performance scene. Also, I was very happy to meet visiting artist Manfred Werder. Of course, the war in Gaza has shaped my thoughts and actions, plunging me back into anti-racism work. I’ve been collating media for broadcast on Lumbung radio and researching for a forthcoming podcast.”
