During the residency in September, I created a sound installation titled “Surface Tension” which is included in the current exhibition “Dearly Detested Concrete – Brutalist Architecture in Finland” at the Sibelius Museum (on view until 7.1.24).
“Surface Tension” conceptually and sonically examines notions of resistance and force within environments close to the edge of a body of water. With sound recordings from the Aura River, Ruissalo shipyard docks, the coastlines of the Archipelago, and the concrete surfaces of the Sibelius Museum, the project explores local ecologies and the complex relationship between urban and industrial spaces, resources, and natural environments.
