Titanik A.i.R Epilogue | uRge: Maija Suominen & Lumi Mannermaa

director

“We had the pleasure of residenting in Titanik for the beautiful, sunny June. We are both originally from Helsinki, and a little break from the capital was a really welcomed one. As a sonic performance duo, we strive to center, at the core, raw emotions and feminism in our work.

We started or work with an aim for a final performance in the gallery, and begun to carve out some concepts from scratch. Up came themes such as play, emptiness, idleness and toy instruments. From these key elements we started, as we usually do, slowly, intuitively constructing a performance. With the fluid working hours we had the opportunity to use the gallery space as well in addition to the studio. A jolly mismatch of caricature, badminton and synthesized sound started to form, finalizing its form in the performance 27.6.

We want to thank all of the Titanik community for the opportunity and the experience we had in our stay and the people who came in and saw us perform. We truly had an amazing time and the residency was a catalyst for artistic growth for both of us.”
