Himera presents: Felicity Mangan (AU) & Daniel Voigt (DE)
Monday 6 August 7pm
Felicity Mangan is an Australian sound artist and composer based in Berlin, Germany since 2008. In different situations, such as solo performance, collaborative projects with other musicians or installation, Felicity plays her found native Australian animal archive, either through stereophonic system or often via hand-made speakers made from re-cycled or displaced objects. Felicity has presented work in various setting including Opera Mexico City, Berlin Atonal, CTM Berlin, Ableton Loop summit. While releasing a debut EP ‘CAMO’ with duo project Native Instrument on Shelter Press.
Daniel Voigt is a sound artist from Frankfurt am Main. Augmented by effectpedals & mixer treatments Daniel Voigt blends a Musique Concrète approach (cutting up tapes and looping sounds with the help of several walkmen) with the cosmic aesthetics of Krautrock to make his sounds like a love child of Delia Derbyshire and Klaus Schulze. He toured in the UK, Japan and Europe and released on various international tape labels, such as Digitalis, Hobo Cult, Skell LLC & Cosmic Winnetou. Voigt is also the man behind the SicSic Tape label, a home port for a lot of outer limits travelers that are sharing the vision for deep zoned-out sounds & DIY culture. His current live setup is kind of a dronescape-travelogue combining recordings from the fields with accidental cut-up tape sounds. Notes from the era of imperfect memory.
The event is part of a collaboration between Titanik and Himera collective, working on experimental sound and music in Turku, Finland. himera.fi
